The Thaya Culture Festival

Friday

This year’s Thaya Culture Festival will again be influenced by world events. In the light of the events of the last weeks, the members of the association are involved in providing assistance to the newly arrived citizens from Ukraine and offer them, besides personal and material help, also a networking with the people of Mikulov and its cultural life. In this respect, we would like to give as much space as possible in this year’s programme to those who are finding refuge in our city these days.

Friday’s round table will be devoted to a Czech-Austrian project very closely linked to Mikulov – namely the presentation of a new publication called „Lexicon of Past Time – The Present of South Moravian Monuments“. The book was published by the Regional Museum in Mikulov within the I-CULT project (cross-border cooperation programme INTERREG V-A Austria – Czech Republic). In ten chapters, the publication focuses on the earliest settlements of the region, spiritual and secular monuments, folk culture, viticulture and winemaking, technical and military monuments, modern art and nature. The individual images – consisting of shorter texts structured into a mosaic of facts and stories, supplemented by rich photographic material – present the South Moravian Region in its historical context, as presented by museums, galleries and other institutions, and offer insight into the context that shaped the local landscape, its character, its population and its traditions. The Czech version has been published in March 2022, the Austrian version in May 2022. Some of the authors of the publication as well as representatives of the student project (New Design University St. Pölten) AREA ACZ, which is linked to the publication, will be invited to the round table. Friday’s program will continue with a culinary show by the famous influencer Lukáš Hejlík and the program will end with a concert by ANT ATTACK and DJ Kosmonaut at the main square.
